As part of Parkland School Districts anti-bullying initiative, lessons take place in the classroom throughout the year which educates students on the impact of bullying. This year a series of lessons and class meetings focused on the Olweus Bullying Circle. Specifically, these lessons helped students understand the many roles one can assume when they witness bullying. At the conclusion of these lessons, student’s role played the different decisions they could make when encountering a bully and their victim. In an effort to take this culminating activity further, as a class student’s created a digital story which depicted these choices. Additionally, students interviews were included that explain personal experiences and insight regarding bullying. “What Will You Do the Next Time You Witness A Victim Being Bullied?” can be viewed by clicking on the link from the Ironton Elementary Homepage.
