How does the SchoolTube process work?
When you upload a audio or video media to SchoolTube it gets converted in to a Flash media file which is a common standard for internet audio/video delivery. As you do your upload you'll notice that we ask you to categorize the video in to a Channel and Program and we allow you to enter a description and some search tags. All of that is done so other users and internet search engines can find your videos more easily.
The Flash media files are then stored and when you click on a
thumbnail image the video is served up over the net and appears in living color on your screen.
Does SchoolTube keep a copy of the original video?
Uploaded videos are stored in their original format because of the future potential for a SchoolTube service that would allow teachers to download video
footage for use in their classroom as B-roll or for use in assignments,
etc.
Can I download videos for later viewing?
The videos that SchoolTube delivers to the video player aren't designed for offline viewing. Videos are served live over the internet and that requires
an internet connection.
But, as mentioned, we are testing the interest in a B-Roll warehouse so if you read this and that sounds valuable to you, please let us know!
