Asian American Journalism Association
    The AAJA also accepts student members, and offers some students opportunities.

John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
    The Knight Foundation focuses on journalism and communities, inspiring and enabling them to reach their highest potential. They offer community programs, journalism programs, and grants.

Journalism Education Association
    The JEA supports free and responsible scholastic journalism by providing resources and educational opportunities, by promoting professionalism, by encouraging and rewarding student excellence and teacher achievement, and by fostering an atmosphere which encompasses diversity yet builds unity.

National Association of Black Journalists
    The NABJ also accepts student members, and offers some students opportunities.

National Scholastic Press Association
    The NSPA is a non-profit educational association that provides journalism education services to students, teachers, media advisers and others throughout the United States and in other countries.

Native American Journalists Association
    The NAJA also accepts student members, and offers some students opportunities.

Poynter Institute
    The Poynter Institute is a school for journalists, future journalists, and teachers of journalists.

RTNDA and RTNDF
    The Radio-Television News Directors Association is the world's largest professional organization devoted exclusively to electronic journalism. As the educational arm of the RTNDA, RTNDF offers professional developement opportunities for working and aspiring journalists and journalism educators.

Student Press Law Center
    Since 1974, the SPLC has been the nation's only legal assistance agency devoted exclusively to educating high school and college journalists about the rights and responsibilities embodied in the First Amendment and supporting the student news media in their struggle to cover important issues free from censorship. The Center provides free legal advice and information as well as low-cost educational materials for student journalists on a wide variety of legal topics. In addition, the SPLC operates a formal Attorney Referral Network of approximately 150 lawyers across the country who are available to provide free legal representation.

National Association of Hispanic Journalists
    The NAHJ also accepts student members, and offers some students opportunities.
