Genreal Video Production
Daily Newscast
Provides students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with
different aspects of television technology. The students will learn
how to improve both their written and oral communication skills. In
addition, this project serves as a supplement to the curriculum of all
classroom subject areas. Thanks goes to Ted Irving at Hightower High School in Missouri City, TX for this submission.
Headline Newscast
The Headline Newscast is a 4:00 video news package, that teaches
students to extract news information from a print resource, and turn it
into a broadcast style script and presentation. Students will learn the
5 W's and H, practice writing in a 3-column script, learn to read from
a teleprompter, learn how to announce on camera, and learn to work with
a newscast partner to research, write and deliver a brief newscast.
This activity is great for programs that produce a daily morning,
weekly or monthly newscast show. Thanks goes to Don Goble of Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, MO for this lesson plan.
How_to_Shoot_a_Speaker
This document contains information on the basics of shooting a video of
a speech or debate. Remember you are trying to get your viewers to pay
attention to the speaker, not your poorly made video. If you follow
some of the basic tips found here your video will look professional and
non-intrusive.
Shooting a Basic Sequence
"Shooting a Basic Sequence is a beginning exercise my students do in pairs. It is their first opportunity to use the equipment on a project, practice composition, shoot to a simple story board, and edit the sequence together. After capturing the video, each student edits their own piece." said Walter Hebern from Mariposa County High School in Mariposa, CA, who sent in this great lesson plan.
Video Production Basics
Thank you to Dr. Wes Leggett of Fort Collins, Co for sending this piece. He said, this is "something I've used for years in teaching
students and teachers how to use their 10 fingers to remember the critical
elements when shooting." What better way to remember the basics in the field, then having your notes with you!
