Davenport Central Principal Tim Wernentin is 2006 IHSPA Iowa Journalism Administrator of the Year. In 2007 he received the First Amendment Day Award from Iowa State University. Central High was the winner of the Journalism Education Association First Amendment Cornerstone Award in 2006 and a Scholastic Press Freedom Award in 2007.
