Objective:
- To introduce students to the art of food styling and the process of creating a visually appealing charcuterie board.
- To explore different ingredients and arrangements in food presentation.

Materials:
- A variety of cured meats (such as salami, prosciutto, and chorizo)
- Assorted cheeses (such as brie, cheddar, and gouda)
- Fresh and dried fruits (such as grapes, berries, and figs)
- Nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, and pistachios)
- Crackers or bread slices
- Honey or jam for drizzling
- Cutting boards or platters for presentation
- Knives for slicing
- Small bowls or ramekins for condiments
- Toothpicks or cocktail forks for serving

Procedure:

1. Introduction (10 minutes)
- Begin the lesson by discussing the importance of food presentation and the role of a food stylist in creating visually appealing dishes.
- Engage students in a discussion about their favorite charcuterie boards and what makes them visually appealing.

2. Ingredient Discussion and Preparation (15 minutes)
- Show the students the assortment of cured meats, cheeses, fruits, and nuts, and discuss their textures, flavors, and colors.
- Instruct students on how to properly slice and arrange the ingredients for optimal presentation.

3. Platter Selection and Layout (10 minutes)
- Discuss the different types of platters and cutting boards that can be used for a charcuterie board.
- Instruct students on how to create a visually balanced layout, considering color, shape, and textures of the ingredients.

4. Artful Arrangement (20 minutes)
- Demonstrate different techniques for arranging the cured meats, cheeses, fruits, and nuts on the platter.
- Encourage students to experiment with creating patterns, alternating colors, and incorporating height and depth to enhance the visual appeal.

5. Drizzling and Garnishing (10 minutes)
- Show students how to drizzle honey or spread jam on certain ingredients to add sweetness and visual interest.
- Discuss the use of fresh herbs or edible flowers as garnishes to elevate the presentation.

6. Serving and Tasting (15 minutes)
- Instruct students on how to serve the charcuterie board, including the use of toothpicks or cocktail forks for easy sampling.
- Encourage students to appreciate the visual impact of their creations before indulging in the flavors.

7. Reflective Writing and Discussion (20 minutes)
- Instruct students to individually write a reflective paragraph describing their experience creating and admiring the beautiful charcuterie board.
