⁣Lesson Plan: Show and Tell

Grade Level: Pre-K

Subject: Language Arts and Communication

Duration: 30 minutes

Common Core Standards:
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.PK.5: With guidance and support from adults, explore word relationships and nuances in word meanings.
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.PK.1: Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).

Objective:
Students will enhance their communication skills by participating in a Show and Tell activity. They will practice describing objects, listening to their peers, and asking questions.

Materials:
- Various objects brought by students

Procedure:
1. Introduction (5 minutes):
- Explain the concept of Show and Tell, where each student will have the opportunity to share an object of their choice with the class.
- Discuss the importance of active listening and respectful questioning during the activity.

2. Object Selection and Description (10 minutes):
- Instruct students to select an object from home that they would like to share with the class.
- Encourage them to think about descriptive words and characteristics of their chosen object.
- Ask each student to take turns presenting their object to the class, describing its appearance, purpose, and any interesting facts about it.

3. Active Listening and Questioning (10 minutes):
- Encourage students to actively listen to their peers' presentations.
- After each presentation, invite other students to ask questions about the shared object.
- Guide students in formulating appropriate questions, such as "What does it do?" or "Where did you get it?"

4. Reflection and Closure (5 minutes):
- Engage students in a brief discussion about their favorite objects shared during Show and Tell.
- Encourage them to reflect on what they learned about their classmates through this activity.
- Conclude the lesson by emphasizing the importance of effective communication and active listening.
