- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.1: Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions on grade 9-10 topics, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly.

Materials:
- Laptop or projector for multimedia presentation
- Baked cakes (can be provided or students can bring their own)
- Buttercream frosting (various colors)
- Fondant (various colors)
- Piping bags and tips
- Spatulas and offset spatulas
- Cake decorating tools (e.g., fondant cutters, impression mats, etc.)
- Edible decorations (sprinkles, edible pearls, etc.)
- Cake boards or plates

Procedure:

1. Introduction (10 minutes)
- Begin the lesson by discussing the art and importance of cake decorating, highlighting its role in special occasions and celebrations.
- Engage students in a group discussion about their favorite cake designs or any unique cakes they have seen or heard of.

2. Exploring Cake Decorating Techniques (15 minutes)
- Show a multimedia presentation or use visual aids to introduce students to various cake decorating techniques such as piping, fondant work, and edible decorations.
- Discuss the different tools and materials used in cake decorating, explaining their purposes and effects on the final design.

3. Cake Design Planning (15 minutes)
