Materials:
World map (physical and political)
Projector or smartboard
Handout with 50 geography misconceptions
Internet access for research
Introduction (10 minutes):
Begin with a quick quiz on the board with 5 common geography misconceptions.
Ask students to answer them individually.
Review answers as a class and discuss initial reactions.
Direct Instruction (15 minutes):
Present a slideshow highlighting 10 of the most surprising misconceptions from the list of 50.
For each misconception:
Show the misconception.
