Duration: 60 minutes

- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.1: Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions on grades 9-10 topics, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.

Objectives:
- Students will analyze and discuss the benefits of engaging in adventurous activities in relationships.
- Students will explore The Adventure Challenge: Couples Edition and its impact on fostering connection and communication.
- Students will reflect on the importance of adventure and shared experiences in relationships.

Materials:
- The Adventure Challenge: Couples Edition book or website/printouts showcasing different adventure challenges
- Whiteboard or chart paper
- Writing utensils
- Optional: Multimedia resources showcasing real-life experiences of couples engaging in adventurous activities

Procedure:

1. Introduction (5 minutes):
- Begin the lesson by discussing the importance of shared experiences and communication in relationships.
- Ask students to share their thoughts on how engaging in adventurous activities can impact relationships.

2. Reading and Analysis (20 minutes):
- Introduce The Adventure Challenge: Couples Edition book or website to the students.
- Instruct students to explore the book or website, reading about the different adventure challenges available.
- Ask students to select one challenge that interests them and read the description and guidelines thoroughly.

3. Small Group Discussion (15 minutes):
- Divide students into small groups and ask them to discuss the benefits of engaging in adventurous activities in relationships.
- Encourage students to share their selected adventure challenge and explain why they find it appealing.
- Instruct each group to select a spokesperson who will present their group's findings to the class.

4. Whole-Class Discussion (10 minutes):
- Bring the students back together for a whole-class discussion.
- Allow each spokesperson to share their group's analysis of the benefits of adventurous activities in relationships.
- Facilitate a discussion among students, focusing on the impact of adventure on fostering connection, communication, and personal growth.

5. Multimedia Exploration (10 minutes):
- If resources are available, show multimedia resources showcasing real-life experiences of couples engaging in adventurous activities.
- Encourage students to consider the ways in which these experiences can enhance relationships and create lasting memories.

6. Reflective Writing (10 minutes):
- Instruct students to individually write a reflective text on the importance of adventure and shared experiences in relationships.
