Lesson Objectives:
- Students will understand the basic principles of air pressure and how it can be utilized to create an air pump using a bottle.
- Students will learn about the components and mechanisms involved in constructing an air pump.
- Students will be able to explain the steps and techniques used to make the air pump.

Materials:
- Plastic bottle (empty and clean)
- Rubber stopper or cork
- Plastic tubing or straw
- Balloon
- Scissors
- Tape
- Water
- Small container or basin

Procedure:
1. Begin the lesson by discussing the concept of air pressure and its applications in everyday life. Explain how changes in air pressure can be utilized to create an air pump.
2. Show examples or images/videos of different types of air pumps to help students understand the principles involved.
3. Explain to the students that they will be creating a simple air pump using a plastic bottle.
4. Distribute the materials to each student or group of students.
5. Instruct the students to cut a small hole in the rubber stopper or cork that is just big enough to insert the plastic tubing or straw.
6. Insert one end of the plastic tubing or straw into the hole of the rubber stopper or cork, ensuring a tight fit.
7. Attach the other end of the plastic tubing or straw to the opening of the balloon, securing it with tape if necessary.
8. Fill the small container or basin with water.
9. Submerge the rubber stopper or cork with the attached tubing and balloon into the water, making sure the balloon is above the water level.
10. Hold the bottle firmly and pull the balloon up, then quickly push it down. Observe the movement of water in the container or basin.
11. Explain to the students that the up and down movement of the balloon creates changes in air pressure, which in turn causes water to be drawn into and expelled from the bottle, mimicking the function of an air pump.
12. Encourage students to experiment with different techniques and modifications to improve the efficiency and functionality of their air pumps.
13. Discuss the scientific principles involved in creating the air pump, including the relationship between air pressure and fluid movement.

Assessment:
- Observe students' engagement and participation during the construction of the air pump.
- Evaluate students' understanding of air pressure principles and the engineering process through class discussions and their ability to explain the construction steps.
