Lesson Plan: How to Make a Butterfly Explosion Surprise Gift Box DIY

Lesson Objectives:
- Students will learn how to create a visually appealing and interactive butterfly explosion surprise gift box.

Materials:
- Cardstock or thick paper in various colors
- Scissors
- Glue or double-sided tape
- Ruler

Procedure:
1. Begin the lesson by discussing the concept of surprise gift boxes and their popularity as creative and personalized gifts.
2. Show examples or images/videos of different types of surprise gift boxes, emphasizing the interactive and visually appealing elements.
3. Explain to the students that they will be creating a butterfly explosion surprise gift box using paper engineering techniques.
4. Distribute the materials to each student or group of students.
5. Instruct the students to choose a size for their gift box and cut out a square or rectangular piece of cardstock or thick paper accordingly.

12. Fold the flaps back down, concealing the butterflies inside the box.
13. Instruct the students to place small gifts or notes inside the box, hidden beneath the flaps.
14. Encourage students to experiment with different design variations and sizes to create unique and personalized butterfly explosion surprise gift boxes.
15. Discuss the principles of paper engineering and mechanisms involved in creating the surprise box, including the folding and interlocking elements.
