⁣Lesson Plan: I Can Cook Season 3 Compilation #4

Grade Level: 2-4

Subject: Cooking and Nutrition

Duration: 45 minutes

Common Core Standards:
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.7: Use information gained from the illustrations and words in a print or digital text to demonstrate understanding of its characters, setting, or plot.
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.3.3: Describe the relationship between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text, using language that pertains to time, sequence, and cause/effect.
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.4.2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

Objectives:
- Students will watch I Can Cook Season 3 Compilation #4.
- Students will identify and describe the characters, setting, and plot of each episode.
- Students will analyze the sequence of cooking steps and understand cause and effect relationships.
- Students will create an informative/explanatory text about a recipe featured in the compilation.

Materials:
- I Can Cook Season 3 Compilation #4 (available on appropriate platforms)
- Paper and writing utensils for students
- Drawing materials (optional)
- Recipe cards or printouts of recipes from the compilation

Procedure:

1. Introduction (5 minutes):
- Introduce the topic of cooking and nutrition and the I Can Cook Season 3 Compilation #4.
- Explain that students will watch the compilation and focus on understanding the characters, setting, plot, cooking steps, and cause/effect relationships in each episode.

2. Watching the Compilation (15 minutes):
- Play the I Can Cook Season 3 Compilation #4 for the students.
- Instruct students to pay close attention to the characters, setting, and plot of each episode.
- Encourage students to take notes or draw pictures of the key information they observe.

3. Identifying and Describing Characters, Setting, and Plot (10 minutes):
- Engage students in a class discussion to identify and describe the characters, setting, and plot of each episode.
- Provide guiding questions to help students analyze and describe the key elements.
- Encourage students to support their descriptions with evidence from the compilation.

4. Analyzing Sequence and Cause/Effect Relationships (10 minutes):
- Instruct students to analyze the sequence of cooking steps in each episode.
- Guide students in identifying cause and effect relationships between the cooking steps and the resulting dishes.
- Encourage students to discuss and share their findings with the class.

5. Creating an Informative/Explanatory Text (10 minutes):
- Provide each student with a recipe card or printout of a recipe from the compilation.
- Instruct students to create an informative/explanatory text about the recipe, including the ingredients, cooking steps, and any additional information they find interesting.
- Encourage students to use clear language, proper sequencing, and cause and effect relationships in their writing.

6. Sharing and Reflecting (5 minutes):
- Allow students to share their informative/explanatory texts with the class.
- Encourage students to reflect on the process of analyzing and describing the characters, setting, plot, cooking steps, and cause/effect relationships.
- Provide positive feedback and suggestions for improvement.

7. Closing (5 minutes):
- Thank students for their active participation and engagement in learning about cooking and nutrition through the I Can Cook Season 3 Compilation #4.
- Encourage students to continue exploring healthy cooking and nutrition in their everyday lives.
