- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.5.7: Draw on information from multiple print or digital sources, demonstrating the ability to locate an answer to a question quickly or to solve a problem efficiently.
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.6.8: Trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, distinguishing claims that are supported by reasons and evidence from claims that are not.

Materials:
- Access to the internet and computers/tablets
- Videos or recordings of recorded phenomena (e.g., paranormal events, incredible feats)

- Introduce the concept of exploring recorded phenomena and the evidence they provide.

2. Watching Recorded Phenomena (20 minutes)
- Show a series of videos or recordings showcasing various recorded phenomena (e.g., paranormal events, incredible feats).
- Encourage students to actively watch and pay attention to the details and evidence presented in each recording.
- Discuss the students' initial reactions and impressions after watching the recordings.

3. Analyzing Evidence (20 minutes)
- Divide students into small groups and assign each group a specific recording to analyze further.
- Provide access to computers/tablets and instruct students to research the background and context of the recorded phenomena they are assigned.
- After research, have each group present their findings to the class, highlighting the evidence supporting the recorded event and any possible explanations or counterarguments.
- Facilitate a class discussion on the credibility and reliability of recorded phenomena as evidence.

4. Evaluating Claims (15 minutes)
- Distribute worksheets that require students to evaluate the claims made in the recordings they analyzed and determine if they are supported by reasons and evidence.
- Allow students time to complete the worksheets individually.
- Facilitate a class discussion where students can share their evaluations and discuss the difference between claims supported by evidence and those that are not.

5. Researching Multiple Sources (15 minutes)
- Instruct students to conduct further research on the recorded phenomena they find most interesting or intriguing.
- Encourage students to use multiple print or digital sources to gather information and locate answers to any questions or doubts they may have.
- Allow students time to conduct their research.
- Discuss the importance of using multiple sources to corroborate information and make informed judgments.
