Subject: Science/Chemistry

Objective: Students will investigate the consequences of over-activating slime by adding excessive amounts of activator, and understand the science behind slime consistency.

Materials Needed:
- Clear glue
- Borax powder
- Water
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Mixing bowls
- Disposable gloves (for safety)
- Plastic containers or bags for storing slime

Procedure:

1. Introduction (10 minutes):
- Engage students in a discussion about the properties and consistency of slime.
- Explain that they will be conducting an experiment to explore what happens when slime is over-activated by adding too much activator.

2. Safety Precautions (5 minutes):
- Emphasize the importance of safety during the experiment.
- Instruct students to wear disposable gloves to protect their hands and to handle all materials with care.

3. Slime Making Demonstration (15 minutes):
- Demonstrate the process of making slime using the standard ratio of glue to activator:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ½ cup of clear glue and ½ cup of water. Mix well.
- In a separate cup, mix 1 teaspoon of borax powder with 1 cup of warm water until the borax is completely dissolved.
- Slowly pour the borax mixture into the glue mixture while stirring continuously.
- As the two mixtures combine, a slimy substance will form. Continue stirring until the slime starts to solidify.
- Remove the slime from the bowl and knead it with clean hands until it reaches the desired consistency.

4. Over-Activation Experimentation (25 minutes):
- Divide students into pairs or small groups.
- Provide each group with the necessary materials and instruct them to follow the steps demonstrated, but with a twist: they must add excessive amounts of activator to the slime.
- Encourage students to observe and document the changes in the slime's consistency and appearance as they add more activator.

5. Group Presentations and Discussion (15 minutes):
- Have each group present their findings to the class.
- Facilitate a discussion about the consequences of over-activating the slime and how it differs from the standard slime.
- Ask questions to promote critical thinking, such as:
